MIKE FROM BYTELAUNCH
He created these two fonts at Fonts.com:

1) font-family:'HelveticaNeueW01-Thin';
2) font-family:'HelveticaNeueW01-65Medi';

Mike set this up when playing around with story decks on the HP:

.homepage .item p {
    font-family: HelveticaNeueW01-Thin,Arial,sans-serif;
    font-size: 14px;
    line-height: 19px;
}

DAMON'S QUESTIONS, CONCERNS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THINGS TO CONTINUE DOING AND INVESTIGATING:

1) Without confirming, I believe you're right in that there's a cache-time on DEV. I was slowed significatnly in development.

2) In my opinion, the "helvetica-thin" doesn't look great in the footer, I think it's hard to read. However, it looks better than what was there before. For example, without the "helvetica-thin" font the link "Slide Shows" wraps, separates and thus looks bad. Maybe I'm overthinking it because I've been staring at these things all day.

3) I don't know if it's necessary or not for super-clean CSS, but I didn't use any "!Important" declarations.

4) There's a font-weight on almost every link that's wasn't there before the change. I couldn't figure it out; needs to be investigated. Probably a simple oversight on my part.

5) At the article-level, bolded items are stronger and bigger than the normal text. I couldn't figure that out, probably a simple oversight on my part. For example:

	  - http://www.apparelnews.net/news/2014/jan/30/texworld-usa-draws-crowd-amid-snowy-weather/

6) In the Runway section (/news/runway/), there's a problem with double headlines which is a problem that popped up after the site was deleted in the fall. It's probably because the photos were deleted so the ALT tags are showing. Not sure. Needs investigating.

7) Classifieds = Seems like all the fonts on classifieds, which is hosted by a third party, were part of the Fonts.com javascript. I've only adjusted a few, as noted below.

8) Perhaps you can try to sell the California Apparel News powers-that-be of the virtues of merging all the different CSS. For the next web producer who has some development capabilities, having a clean CSS structure sure would help. When I started this job, and began looking at the templates I quickly became confused. I made a note to tackle the messy CSS structure way down the road.

9) I'm not a designer, so I've encouraged the folks here that they need someone who cares about fonts to decide which ones should be used where, and to continue the Fonts.com project. I have not made the case to them that this is important to CAN's overall branding.

10) A spot check on the morning after development, on a PC and MAC:

PC:
   Firefox
   * "H-thin" font looks good in footer
   * Most Popular box needs spacing attention

   IE 9
   * "H-thin" font looks good in footer
   * Random line showing up in left-hand column above Blogs header, below newsletter
   * At article level, when user not signed in, the bullets of the Related Stories are jacked up
   * Most Popular box needs spacing attention

   Chrome: Version 32.0.1700.107 m
   * "H-thin" font looks good in footer
   * HP connect box, text wraps
   * Most Popular box needs spacing attention
   * Navigation box is jacked up. See screen shot "pc-chrome-hp"

MAC:
   Firefox
   * "H-thin" font looks bad in footer
   * Most Popular box needs spacing attention

   IE
   * I don't have it loaded on my Mac.

   Chrome
   * "H-thin" font looks bad in footer
   * HP connect box looks fine, unlike the PC version
   * Navigation box is jacked up just like the PC version
   * Most Popular box needs spacing attention
